About these guides

How we make our guides

These visitor guides answer what people ask before a museum visit: which languages the labels and audio guides are in, what you may photograph, and how to stay connected.

Who we are

The guides are published by Tales of Museums, an iPhone app that reads museum labels aloud in your language. Tales of Museums is run by Adrienn Sepa and is independent: it is not affiliated with any museum, and no museum pays to appear here.

How we research and write

We start from each museum's own pages: visitor rules, tickets and services. We use reputable press only where those pages are silent, and say so in the text. Every fact links to its source, and each page shows the date we checked it. The same method covers our city pages, which compare free days, opening days and holiday hours across a city's museums, and the audio-guide language data we publish for download. We re-check every page on a schedule.

How we use AI

AI tools do much of the work, under rules we set. An AI model reads each museum's own pages and drafts the facts, with a link to every source. Since 22 October 2026, a second, independent AI check re-reads a sample of those sources and approves or rejects each change before it is published. Translations are made with AI and checked automatically so that numbers, prices, days and languages match the English; new translations are also reviewed in a separate pass, as a native editor would. The guides are compiled from official sources, not from our own visits.

Why these guides exist

Many museums offer audio guides in only a few languages. These pages help you plan your visit, and show where our app can help when your language is missing. We only cover museums whose rules allow you to photograph labels and use your phone.

Corrections

Museums change their rules and services. If something on a guide is out of date, email hello@talesof.app and we will check it and update the page.

Hear the labels in your language

  1. Point at the label. Hold your iPhone steady and tap. You can also choose a photo you already took.
  2. Listen in your language. The label is translated and read aloud in a natural voice, in any of twelve languages, and each sentence lights up as it is read.
  3. Learn more. Key terms explained in plain words, and a few interesting facts with their sources.
