Who we are

Tales of Museums ("the app") and talesof.app are provided by Adrienn Sepa, an individual based in Hungary, under the brand Talesof ("we", "us"). Contact hello@talesof.app. By using the app you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.

Who can use the app

The app is for people aged 13 or older. A child under 13 may use it only with a parent or guardian who uses the app with them and agrees to these terms for them. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree for you. We may delete an account we learn was created by a child under 13 without parental involvement.

What the app does

The app reads text you photograph, translates and explains it, and reads it aloud. It is a general personal tool: you choose what to point it at. It is unofficial: not affiliated with, endorsed by or a substitute for any museum, gallery or its official guides.

AI-generated content

Readings, translations, narration, extra facts and term explanations are generated by artificial intelligence. The voice is synthetic, not a real person. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check important information with the venue or another reliable source. Do not rely on it for safety, medical, legal or financial decisions.

Museum rules and other people's rights

Follow each venue's photography and visitor rules. Do not use the app where photography is not allowed. Labels and exhibits can be protected by copyright. Use readings for your own personal, non-commercial understanding during your visit; do not republish or sell them. Respect other visitors' privacy: avoid photographing people.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account in the app (Settings) or by emailing us. Deletion is permanent and unused credits are lost.

Credits and payments

Credits are bought as one-off in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms. Prices are shown in the store sheet before you pay. Credits are not a subscription and do not renew automatically.

Each reading uses credits as shown in the app. Where a reading fails because of a fault on our side, we aim to return the credit.

Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and may expire only if we close the service. If we close the service we give at least 30 days' notice.

Refunds of store purchases go through Apple or Google under their refund policies. This does not limit your statutory rights.

Apple and Google sell in-app purchases through their stores. Your right to withdraw from a purchase and any refund are handled by Apple or Google under their terms and the law that applies to you.

Acceptable use

You must not: break the law; misuse, overload, reverse-engineer or bypass our security, rate limits or credit systems; use automated or bulk access; create accounts to claim free credits repeatedly; use output to build competing datasets or models; or upload illegal content. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, after notice where reasonable.

Our content and your content

The app, its design, voices and brand belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app. You keep whatever rights you have in your photos. You let us process them only to provide and secure the service, as the Privacy Policy describes.

Changes and availability

Features may change and the service may be interrupted. We may stop the service with reasonable notice. We will post changed terms here with a new date and give notice in the app for significant changes. Continued use after that means acceptance. If you disagree, stop using the app and delete your account.

Liability

The app is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or intentional or grossly negligent conduct) or your mandatory consumer rights. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Law and disputes

Hungarian law applies and the courts of Hungary have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first at hello@talesof.app; we try to resolve complaints within 30 days.

Apple and Google

If you got the app from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Apple is not responsible for claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance and consumer protection. In the case of an intellectual-property infringement claim, we, not Apple, are responsible. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not in an embargoed country or on a US restricted-party list. Purchases made through Google Play follow Google Play's terms.
